Networking in the construction industry is very important. We have discussed the importance of joining industry association in previous posts, but just as important as peer to peer networking, is building an online social media network. The first step is to join Linkedin, Google+ and Facebook. Once you have free accounts with these site you can join construction industry groups and communities.
Communities and groups are similar to forums except they are integrated into social networking sites. They are a place to network, share ideas, discuss trade knowledge and business, ask questions and become acquainted with others having similar interests. They are a great place to develop a network that can be used in future job searches and well as get peer to peer referrals.
Groups and communities are private and comments will not show up in your normal feeds that others who are not part of the group can see.
A search on these sites will list various construction industry groups that will match you needs. We invite you to join our communities and participate in the conversations with us.
