Hi, I’m Ron Pestone and I’m your host.
With over 50 years of experience in the construction industry in New York City I have experienced more than my share of joys and sorrows. I have had the pleasure of working with some of the smartest people in the largest building programs in the United States. With the exception of the years I was in the public sector with the New York City School Construction Authority, my career has been as a subcontractor working either as a mechanical contractor or as an electrical contractor.
Years before grey hair and a suit and tie, my life was in the field. It was there that I truly learned construction. I never forgot I came from the field. No matter what position I held, I never lost my appreciation for the guys in the field. Without them nothing happens. They either make or break the bottom line. I never forgot the difficulty of working in the cold or heat or what it was like to fight an installation.
I am known for my due diligence skills, understanding the numbers, pretty salty language and a love for production. It’s how I have approached construction Job costing, construction project management and construction claims.
My job costing system works because it’s based on an understanding of the field and what the foreman can and cannot give me as well as understanding the constraints the project manager is working under. I look at claims from both an owners and contractors perspectives with an understanding that there is no Cinderella.
My blog should tell the rest of the story.
